Many of the challenges we face are simply distractions from
the enemy to keep us from pursuing God’s calling on our life. Maybe someone at
work isn’t as nice to you as you’d like. Maybe someone’s gossiping about you
behind your back. Maybe there are days it seems like nothing falls into place
as easily as you’d like. Those things may be frustrating but they have little
significance when you look at the grand scheme of your destiny. You can’t allow
the little things to cause strife in your life.
The bible says that just before David fought the giant
Goliath, his brother Iliab tried to confront him. But David knew that arguing
with Iliab wasn’t worth his time and energy. He knew his real battle was with
Goliath and he didn’t want to be distracted. He simply “turned away” from Iliab
and kept his focus on what he was called to do.
Let’s follow David’s example and keep our eyes on what’s
most important in life. Instead of being led astray by little challenges that
are really just trifling nuisances, let’s focus on the big picture. Know when
to turn away from strife and press on toward your divine purpose. Pray for
guidance so you can learn to recognize which challenges are meaningful and set
up by God to strengthen your character, versus those that are just a pointless
attempt of the enemy to take you off God’s course.
Your heavenly Father wants you to have victory in every area
of your life. Seek Him when challenges come so that He can give you the wisdom
and discipline to walk away from the unimportant irritations and focus instead on
the awesome plan He has prepared for you. The bible says, “It’s an honor for a
person to cease from strife...” If you will start practicing this I believe and
declare that God will not only give you peace amongst the challenges but He
will also lead you into that higher level of promotion and purpose you’ve been
praying about.
