This past summer I was outside at a friend’s house standing
under a big oak tree talking with some people. There had been a severe storm
the day before and the trees were very stressed. After we got done talking and
walked away, about ten seconds later, this huge branch fell right where we were
standing. If we had still been there, we could’ve all have been seriously hurt.
We walked away at just the right time.
I’m sure you can remember times as I do, when you barely
missed being in an accident or you went through an incident that could’ve been
devastating but you walked away unharmed. These things aren’t a lucky break; it’s
the goodness of God directing our steps. The bible says, “ ‘Because he loves
me,’ says the LORD, ‘I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges
my name.’ ”
Today, I encourage you to be on the lookout for God’s
goodness. Acknowledge His name; acknowledge His love. Listen to the still,
small voice and let Him direct your steps. He will lead you, guide you and
protect you all the days of your life!
